OUR PROPERTIES

We know that 73% of the women who seek out our support are facing homelessness due to domestic and family violence.

Our safe havens support women in Australia through crisis, recovery, to the moment they open the door of their forever home.

Short term accommodation provides emergency accommodation for women and children in crisis, urgently in need of a safe bed. It usually lasts from 1 to 2 nights, up to a maximum of 28 days per year, while we provide help in finding more stable housing.

Each of our safe havens understands the different needs of its residents; from short to long term accommodation, unique support for older women, as well as women with children.

‘Meanwhile use’ is a creative housing model supported by Women’s Community Shelters and Housing All Australians. ‘Social and affordable housing’ is a long term housing pathway for women and their children who have experienced homelessness. This service is desperately needed to help address the dual crises in Australia, of the limited social and affordable housing supply, and domestic and family violence.

At Women’s Community Shelters, we are building a network of accommodation options to support women and children in need of safe, stable housing. Whether it’s emergency accommodation or longer-term support, we offer solutions that meet women where they are.

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Gadigal and Wangal people who are the traditional owners of the land on which we work and live. Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.
