A greater awareness of, and education around, economic abuse is critical to preventing domestic abuse.
The Victorian Royal Commission has recommended measures to increase understanding of this vastly misunderstood pillar of coercive control. The restriction of a victim’s access to resources, and ongoing post-separation financial abuse, can severely limit their capacity to establish a new life.
